Akhilesh Yadav questions Amit Shah over crimes in Uttar Pradesh

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav raised concerns regarding crimes against women and Dalits in the state on Saturday.

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav questioned Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday regarding crimes against women and Dalits in Uttar Pradesh, according to The Hindu.

Yadav stated that the Home Minister should investigate why women face injustice, why murders occur in the state, and why the Dalit community is among the worst affected.

Responding to Amit Shah's claim that the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh is firmly established, Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad said the party's political footing has weakened.

Prasad cited the BJP's failure to retain seats in the recent Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council elections, including defeats in Varanasi, Lucknow, Agra, and Prayagraj.

He also noted that in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP did not achieve its target of winning all 80 seats in the state.

Prasad stated that under Akhilesh Yadav's leadership, the Samajwadi Party won 37 seats and the Congress won six, with the INDIA bloc securing 43 of the 80 seats.
