India's news, as it happens

Live TV

Editorial policy

We aim to be accurate, fair, quick and clear, and to show you where every story comes from.

Sources

We carry reports from established Indian and international news organisations. Every story names the outlets that reported it and links to their full reports. We don't copy the outlets' articles or photographs.

Selection

Stories are selected by how many outlets report them, how recent they are and how much they matter to readers in India. Editors can pin, hold or remove any story.

Sensitive stories

Stories about crimes against children, sexual violence, communal tension, suicide and cases before the courts are handled with extra care. Headlines with graphic detail are held for an editor before they appear. For sensitive stories we show the headline and the sources only, without an article, until an editor has reviewed it. We don't name victims of sexual offences or juveniles.

Elections

We follow the Election Commission of India's rules, including the restrictions on exit polls and opinion polls during polling periods.

Independence

Advertisers and sponsors have no say in what we cover. Sponsored material is always labelled.
