Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya called for stronger collaboration between industries and educational institutions to boost innovation and employment.
Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya attended the valedictory session of the first National Industry-Academia Meet at Nagaon University on Saturday.
Acharya urged educational institutions and industries to work together to foster skill development, research, and job creation. He stated that academic curricula should become more practical and employment-focused through industry partnerships.
The Governor noted that university research needs to tackle actual industrial problems. He also highlighted the importance of upgrading training facilities to account for advancements in robotics, automation, digital technology, and Artificial Intelligence.
Acharya mentioned that internships, start-up initiatives, and collaborative research could bridge the gap between academic studies and industry needs. He suggested that integrating modern technology with Assam's traditional sectors, such as tea and agriculture, could improve productivity.
The Governor referred to the vision of Viksit Bharat and initiatives like Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat. He also noted industrial projects in Assam, including the semiconductor facility at Jagiroad, the Dhubri thermal power plant, and the Namrup ammonia-urea fertiliser plant.
The event was attended by Nagaon-Batadrava MLA Rupak Sharma, Nagaon District Commissioner Aranyak Saikia, and Nagaon University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Hitesh Deka.
