Assam Governor attends first National Industry-Academia Meet at Nagaon University

Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya called for stronger collaboration between industries and educational institutions to boost innovation and employment.

Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya attended the valedictory session of the first National Industry-Academia Meet at Nagaon University on Saturday.

Acharya urged educational institutions and industries to work together to foster skill development, research, and job creation. He stated that academic curricula should become more practical and employment-focused through industry partnerships.

The Governor noted that university research should tackle actual industrial problems. He also highlighted the importance of upgrading training facilities to address the impact of robotics, automation, and digital technology.

Acharya mentioned that internships, collaborative research, and start-up initiatives could bridge the gap between academic studies and industry needs. He suggested integrating modern technology with Assam's traditional sectors like tea, agriculture, and fisheries.

The Governor referred to the vision of Viksit Bharat and initiatives such as Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat. He also noted industrial projects in Assam, including the Jagiroad semiconductor facility and the Dhubri thermal power plant.

The event was attended by Nagaon-Batadrava MLA Rupak Sharma, Nagaon District Commissioner Aranyak Saikia, and Nagaon University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Hitesh Deka.
