The IIPA J&K Regional Branch has now received this specific honour nine times.

BR Sharma, the chairman of the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) J&K Regional Branch, was conferred with the Paul H. Appleby Award on Saturday in Delhi, according to The Tribune.

The award was presented by IIPA president and Vice-President of India CP Radhakrishnan. Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh was also present during the ceremony.

The Paul H. Appleby Award was established by the IIPA to honour Dean Paul H. Appleby, who recommended the creation of the institute in 1954.

An official statement noted that the J&K Regional Branch has won the award nine times. This makes it the branch with the highest number of these awards among the IIPA's 26 regional and 43 local branches.

Sharma is a 1984-batch IAS officer from the former Jammu and Kashmir cadre. He previously served as the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir and has a career in administration lasting over 36 years.
