Abhijeet Dipke apologises to Diljit Dosanjh after singer reacts at Delhi concert

Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke issued an apology to singer Diljit Dosanjh following the singer's remarks at a stadium performance.

Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke apologised to singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh on Friday after the singer addressed recent criticisms during a concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi. The apology followed Dosanjh's remarks regarding the mockery of his film, Satluj, and his previous stance on student protests.

During the performance on Friday, Dosanjh addressed the backlash he received for his response to questions about the NEET paper leak protests. He told the audience that he prefers to remain silent as an artist and requested that people do not instruct Punjabis on how to handle their struggles. He also noted that his team had fought for a long time to release the film Satluj, which depicts the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra.

Dipke, who had previously accused the singer of hypocrisy for not supporting student protests in June, posted an apology on Instagram. He stated that he had been hurt by Dosanjh's earlier comments because he held the singer in high regard. Dipke described himself as a long-time admirer and asked Dosanjh to forgive him as a younger brother.

The controversy began in June when Dosanjh told an interviewer he was merely an artist when asked about protesting students at Jantar Mantar. This response drew criticism from Dipke and others who felt the singer should have been more vocal. Satluj, a film about Jaswant Singh Khalra's investigation into alleged illegal killings in Punjab, was also a point of contention.
