Experts urge clarity and originality for academic publishing success
A five-day boot camp in Vijayawada provided management scholars with hands-on training to refine research manuscripts for international journals.
The Paari School of Business at SRM University-A.P. recently organised a five-day Early Career Researchers’ Publishing Boot Camp in Vijayawada. According to The Hindu, the event was held in partnership with The Kozai Group, Inc. and the Academy of Management Community Accelerator.
The programme targeted postdoctoral researchers, doctoral scholars, and early-career faculty members. It aimed to improve research and academic publishing skills for emerging scholars in the management field.
Management scholars Allan Bird from the Goa Institute of Management and Elizabeth L. Rose, a senior professor and Pro-Vice Chancellor at ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education, Hyderabad, led the sessions. They advised that research rigour, originality, and clarity are more important than using technical jargon or writing long manuscripts.
The workshop used a hands-on method involving individual mentoring, writing sessions, and peer-review exercises. Participants worked on developing research manuscripts for publication in international journals and received direct feedback from mentors.
Mentors suggested that researchers should view publishing as a collaborative way to advance knowledge instead of just meeting targets. The sessions also covered managing co-authorship, setting research goals, and handling peer-review comments to avoid desk rejections.
