Construction worker rescues three-year-old girl from high shed in Palakkad
A 38-year-old worker climbed a 20-foot plastic sorting shed to save a toddler on Saturday.
A construction worker rescued a three-year-old girl from the top of a 20-foot-high plastic sorting shed in Palakkad district on Saturday, according to the Deccan Chronicle.
The child, whose parents are migrant workers living on the premises, had climbed onto the roof of the private company's facility used for sorting plastic waste.
Shihabudheen, a 38-year-old construction worker, said he and a friend noticed movement on the rooftop while preparing to leave on their bikes after finishing concrete work.
He told reporters that he initially thought the movement was an animal, but realised it was a child upon closer inspection.
Shihabudheen climbed the structure to reach the girl, noting that his experience climbing buildings helped him remain calm during the operation.
He said his main concern was the child falling off the side where a 30-foot drop existed. Police and locals believe the girl reached the roof by stepping on piles of plastic waste.
