Electricity infrastructure suffered Rs 500 crore in losses as heavy rain cooled North India.
Andhra Pradesh has suffered preliminary losses of approximately Rs 4,600 crore due to Cyclone Arnab, according to a report by Outlook. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced the figure after surveying the Krishna and Godavari regions from the air.
Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar stated on Thursday that the state's electricity infrastructure alone faced roughly Rs 500 crore in damages. In West Godavari district, 3,700 power poles were uprooted, and power supply was interrupted in nearly 400 villages.
To assist with repairs, 1,700 workers were deployed, while an additional 500 employees from state power distribution companies and 500 personnel from Telangana were called in. The minister said the government aims to restore electricity in affected areas within 24 hours.
In Odisha, the government sent more than 300 disaster response teams to Ganjam and eight other districts for rescue operations. Rail services on the Howrah-Chennai line were affected after the Bahuda river rose above the danger mark at two bridges in Ganjam, leading to the cancellation or diversion of several trains.

The IMD issued alerts for thunderstorms in Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh. In Haryana, Karnal recorded a maximum temperature of 20.6 degrees Celsius, while Patiala in Punjab reached 27.4 degrees Celsius.
