Mammootty named Kerala Police cyber security captain as CLICK initiative launches
The state aims to become fully cyber-resilient by 2027 through the Community Led Initiative for Cyber Resilient Kerala.
Malayalam actor Mammootty has been appointed as the 'Cyber Security Captain' for the Kerala Police. The appointment was announced by Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala during a function at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Kochi on Saturday.
According to Telangana Today, the state has launched CLICK (Community Led Initiative for Cyber Resilient Kerala), a programme designed by the Kerala Police Cyber Wing. The initiative aims to make Kerala completely cyber-resilient by 2027.
Home Minister Chennithala stated that more than 54,000 cyber fraud complaints were registered in the state last year. He noted that effective preventive measures could help contain cybercrimes, which are difficult to eliminate completely.
During the event, Mammootty urged the younger generation to lead the fight against cybercrime. He advised parents to guide children in the responsible use of technology and suggested providing feature phones to children until they are mature enough to use smartphones responsibly.
The actor also cautioned the public about the risks of artificial intelligence, noting that it increases the possibility of misleading people through impersonation. He encouraged society to identify and confront cybercrimes.
Chennithala announced that his office will become fully digitalised from November 3. This will include an online complaint mechanism and a dashboard to monitor the progress of public grievances.
