Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announces auction of 550 acres in Miyapur

The decision to auction the land in Hyderabad has drawn criticism from community representatives and the builders' community.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced on Friday that the Telangana government will auction 550 acres of land at Miyapur. According to Telangana Today, the announcement followed a Supreme Court verdict in favour of the State government regarding the land.

Representatives from SC, ST, and BC communities have criticised the move, requesting the land be used for community halls, hospitals, and housing. They noted the scarcity and rising value of land in the prime Hyderabad location.

The Chief Minister defended the auction during a press conference in New Delhi, stating the government aims to protect the land from encroachments. He said the proceeds would be used for development and welfare works.

The decision has also faced reservations from the builders' community. A CREDAI Telangana member noted that high land prices, similar to those seen at Raidurg, could increase the financial burden on homebuyers.

The Chief Minister had previously mentioned the lack of available government land for allotment to SCs, STs, and BCs. In August 2025, he stated there was no land for these communities, and in February, he said no land was available for distribution to tribals.
