Modi calls Opposition an obstructive force at Gujarat event
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the Opposition has become an obstructive force rather than an opposing group.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked the Opposition on Saturday at an event in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, stating they have become an 'avrodh paksh' or obstructive force instead of a 'virodh paksh' or opposing group. According to The Hindu, he said it is a misfortune that the Opposition has taken this turn and called for national unity.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, the Prime Minister alleged that the Opposition intends to divide the people. He also questioned who is meeting secretly in foreign nations and suggested that forces against India are receiving support from certain individuals.
Modi claimed that social media is being used as a weapon to spread rumours and damage India's image. He noted that while the promise to eliminate Naxalism and Maoism has been fulfilled, the threat of 'dimagi Naxals' or intellectual Naxals remains high.
The Prime Minister stated that future national priorities include the complete security of borders, halting demographic shifts and infiltration, and the transition toward a secular civil code. He identified 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' and 'Viksit Bharat' as the nation's two primary goals.
During the visit, Modi inaugurated 23 development projects worth ₹307.83 crore and laid foundation stones for eight more projects worth ₹118.88 crore. These projects, which include an IRCTC hotel and the Ekta Cruise, aim to improve tourism and civic infrastructure in Ekta Nagar.
