Pedro Acosta wins chaotic Sepang MotoGP Sprint race

Marc Marquez extended his championship lead after finishing second behind Acosta in a 10-lap race at the Sepang International Circuit.

Pedro Acosta won the 10-lap Sprint race at the Sepang International Circuit during a dry-wet race that was threatened by rain, according to Telangana Today.

Acosta held Marc Marquez by 0.578s to secure the victory. Marco Bezzecchi finished in third place, while Ai Ogura, who previously led, finished fourth.

Marquez collected nine points for his second-place finish, increasing his championship lead to 19 points over the absent Jorge Martin. Bezzecchi is now 52 points behind the seven-time MotoGP champion.

Alex Marquez led the Sprint until four laps remained, when he slid out at Turn 14. Ogura then took the lead before Acosta overtook him with three laps left.

Rain caused the white flag to be shown, allowing riders to change bikes for tyres. Iker Lecuona, Joan Mir, Franco Morbidelli, and Maverick Vinales opted for bike changes.

Jorge Martin was ruled out of the Malaysian GP weekend due to a fractured wrist. MotoGP stated that Martin withdrew from the event after participating in Friday sessions.
