The Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi sent an official letter of appreciation to the Kushinagar Senior Superintendent of Police and the UP Police.
The Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi has expressed gratitude to the Uttar Pradesh Police for rescuing 453 Nepalese citizens from an international fraud syndicate in Kushinagar, according to the Hindustan Times.
The rescued group consisted of 338 men and 115 women. The embassy sent an official letter of appreciation to Kushinagar Senior Superintendent of Police Keshav Kumar and the UP Police, the police said in a statement on Saturday.
In May, Kushinagar Police busted the syndicate in Kasya town. The gang allegedly targeted less educated and economically weaker individuals from Nepal with promises of higher education, employment, and lucrative earnings through network marketing.
Police stated that the accused lured victims to Kushinagar before allegedly forcing them to pay for registration, training, and other processing charges. During the investigation, police facilitated the safe return of the 453 nationals to Nepal.
Ten members of the gang, including eight men and two women, were arrested. The arrested individuals include Nepali nationals Deepak Thapa, Om Prakash Chaulagai, Nima Sherpa, Ganesh Khatri, Sojanya Santan, Gyanendra Yadav, and Vishal Tamang, along with Sarvesh Pratap Rao of Parsouna.
