Kagiso Rabada becomes fastest bowler to reach 350 Test wickets
The South African pacer surpassed Dale Steyn's record by taking 350 wickets in 13,808 balls during the third Test against Australia.
South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada became the quickest bowler to reach 350 Test wickets in terms of balls bowled on Saturday. According to reports from Telangana Today, Hindustan Times and The Assam Tribune, the speedster achieved the milestone during the second innings of the third Test against Australia at Newlands in Cape Town.
Rabada reached the landmark on Day 5 of the series-deciding match by dismissing Australian opener Travis Head. The bowler lured Head into a drive with a full delivery outside off-stump, resulting in an edge caught by Marco Jansen at gully.
The pacer completed the milestone in 13,808 deliveries, overtaking his compatriot Dale Steyn, who previously held the record with 14,719 balls. Rabada reached this mark in 75 Test matches, a figure that places him jointly fourth for the fewest matches taken among fast bowlers, alongside Malcolm Marshall.
Rabada started the final day by taking two wickets in the first over. He dismissed Matt Renshaw, who edged a delivery to wicketkeeper Ryan Rickelton, and then trapped Marnus Labuschagne leg before wicket.
The South African bowler is the fourth player from his country to claim at least 350 Test wickets. He follows Dale Steyn, Shaun Pollock, and Makhaya Ntini on the list of South African players with that many wickets in the format.
