Opposition is conspiring to divide the nation, says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the opposition of being an obstructive force and engaging in conspiracies to divide the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday accused the opposition of engaging in conspiracies to divide the country and instigating conflict. Speaking in Gujarat during Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 151st birth anniversary celebrations, the Prime Minister said these forces are hatching plots to divide the nation, according to a Times of India report.

Modi stated that the opposition has made obstruction a core part of its politics. He said the group has turned into an 'Avrodh Paksh' or obstructive force rather than a 'Virodh Paksh' or opposing group. He also took a veiled swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding trips taken abroad.

The Prime Minister alleged that certain forces inside the country are attempting to create instability by spreading lies and rumours. He said social media is being weaponised to malign India's image and noted that the threat of 'Dimagi Naxalism' has not yet been averted.

Addressing the gathering, Modi said that despite a global energy crisis and international fuel crunch, India ensured its citizens were protected. He noted that while several nations struggled with fuel supplies, India's capability allowed it to remain resilient.

Earlier, the Prime Minister paid floral tributes at the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar. He also participated in Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations, where he administered the unity pledge and reviewed the Ekta Parade.
