Experts weigh Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors PV after Q2 results

Analysts suggest Maruti Suzuki offers stable wealth creation while Tata Motors PV shows higher growth potential following recent quarterly earnings.

Stock market experts have shared their views on Maruti Suzuki India Ltd and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (PV) following their Q2 2026 results. Seema Srivastava, Senior Research Analyst at SMC Global Securities, said both companies present long-term investment opportunities due to rising SUV demand and the shift toward alternative-fuel technologies.

Srivastava noted that Maruti Suzuki's market share rose by 220 bps to 40.8% in Q2FY27. The company achieved its highest quarterly sales of 6,96,654 units, a 26.5% year-on-year increase, while revenue grew by 26.1%.

However, Srivastava said Maruti Suzuki's EBITDA margin fell by 330 bps to 9.4% and PAT dropped 26.4%. She attributed this decline to lower non-operating income, forex movements, and commodity inflation.

Regarding Tata Motors PV, Srivastava reported a 40% volume growth to 2,01,723 units, supported by its SUV portfolio and a 90% rise in EV sales. She stated that while the company has growth opportunities, it faces challenges in improving operating margins and EV profitability.

Comparing the two, Srivastava said Maruti Suzuki is better positioned for stable long-term wealth creation, whereas Tata Motors PV offers higher growth potential with more execution risks.

Mahesh M Ojha, VP of Research and Business Development at KC Securities, said Tata Motors PV shares could reach a resistance zone of ₹280 to ₹295. He suggested fresh investors could buy the stock at current prices for a target of ₹320, with a stop-loss at ₹238.
