West Bengal to establish magic school and museum

An advisory committee has been formed to oversee the proposed West Bengal School of Magic, Illusion and Performing Arts.

The West Bengal government plans to create a school dedicated to magic alongside a museum focused on the history of magic in the state, according to officials.

A senior state government official stated that an advisory committee for the West Bengal School of Magic, Illusion and Performing Arts has been established.

The committee held its initial meeting in Kolkata on Friday.

A statement issued by the state government said the initiative will be led by the state information and cultural affairs department.

Renowned magician PC Sorcar (Jr) has been appointed as the chief advisor for the committee, and other magicians are expected to join.

Sorcar previously contested the Barasat Lok Sabha seat for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2014 Parliamentary elections, where he lost to the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) candidate Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar.
