Woman living in Nepal buys £170,000 Yorkshire home at 25
Madeleine Jaye purchased the property while splitting her time between Britain and a small village near Pokhara.
Madeleine Jaye, a 25-year-old from Nottingham, has purchased a £170,000 property in Yorkshire. The law graduate has been dividing her time between Britain and a small village approximately 25 minutes from Pokhara, Nepal, since finishing her studies in 2024.
Jaye runs a personal assistant business in the UK, providing live-in care and assistance. Her work placements in Britain typically last between six and 12 weeks with accommodation included, after which she spends a similar period in Nepal with her husband, Ram.
According to a report by The Sun, Jaye estimates her monthly expenditure in Nepal is at most £300. Her home in the village lacks a refrigerator, washing machine, or hot water, and the couple prepares meals over an open fire.
Jaye met Ram during a momo cooking class while travelling in Nepal. The couple had a Hindu wedding in May 2026, which her mother attended.
Jaye stated that living in Nepal has brought her an unanticipated sense of contentment. She said that spirituality is woven into everyday life and that the experience has changed her in unexpected ways.
