South Africa wins Test series against Australia after three matches
South Africa secured the series victory following a decisive win in the third Test at Newlands.
South Africa has emerged as the top Test side after winning a three-match series against Australia, according to a report by the Hindustan Times. The series spanned 15 days and included two major reversals in momentum.
Australia won the opening Test in Durban by 214 runs. However, South Africa responded in the second Test at Gqeberha, winning by an innings and 31 runs. In that match, South Africa recovered from 110 for six to reach 425/9, led by contributions from Simon Harmer, Marco Jansen, and skipper Temba Bavuma.
The deciding third Test took place at Newlands. Australia held a hundred-run advantage after the first innings, where South Africa scored 329. South Africa later rebuilt from 131/4 to reach a total of 387.
Chasing a target of 288 on the final day, Australia was defeated by 176 runs. Kagiso Rabada and off-spinner Simon Harmer were noted for their roles in the final innings as Australia faced disarray.
The series victory follows a period where social media commentary noted South Africa winning the World Test Championship by playing the fewest number of Tests.
