Yogi Adityanath calls national unity every Indian's duty on Patel's birth anniversary

The Uttar Pradesh chief minister urged citizens to uphold national unity and participate in the Run for Unity on Saturday.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary and extended greetings for National Unity Day. According to the Hindustan Times, Adityanath stated that every Indian has a responsibility to protect the national unity that Patel spent his life pursuing.

The chief minister described Patel, known as the Iron Man of India, as a leader whose life showed that a nation's power comes from being united. He said Patel's dedication to the country continues to inspire the 'Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat' vision.

Adityanath alleged that before 2017, politics involving caste, family, and appeasement had divided society and weakened harmony in Uttar Pradesh. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the state government for changing this through a 'Nation First' approach.

The chief minister also encouraged people to join the annual Run for Unity. He said the event allows citizens to collectively show their commitment to the country's integrity.

In a separate event reported by the Deccan Chronicle, Cyberabad police took a pledge for national unity to mark Ekta Divas. DCP (administration) Annapurna administered the pledge to officers and staff, noting Patel's role in integrating 562 princely states into the Indian Union.
