Was this scheme created solely for Shikhar Agrawal? Gehlot asks

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot questioned the state government over alleged property acquisitions linked to IAS officer Shikhar Agrawal.

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has questioned the state government regarding alleged large-scale property acquisitions linked to IAS officer Shikhar Agrawal and his family, according to ANI.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau has started an investigation into Agrawal, who has been placed on 'Awaiting Posting Orders' (APO) status. Agrawal's wife, IPS officer Prashakha Mathur, has also been placed on APO by the Department of Personnel.

Gehlot questioned the scale of the acquisitions, asking if a scheme was created solely for Agrawal after the purchase of 40 villas worth Rs 6 crore. He stated the Chief Minister must answer and claimed the government had merely taken procedural steps.

Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra said it is not sufficient for Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma to remain silent after grave allegations against an officer holding the post of Additional Chief Secretary to the CM become public.

Dotasra claimed the inquiry will lead to a clean chit for the officer. He alleged the Chief Minister would use administrative steps as evidence of the government's honesty.

The controversy involves the purchase of 40 villa cottages from a single company over a period of two and a half years.
