Assam has set a target to procure 8.49 lakh MT of paddy during the 2026-27 session, according to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on Sunday.

The procurement will be conducted at a minimum support price of Rs 2,441 per quintal. According to ThePrint, the exercise will run from November 1 to May 31 next year.

The CMO stated that the procurement will take place through 181 centres across the state. The office said the exercise will ensure fair value for farmers and strengthen the agricultural sector in Assam.

Farmers will be required to register to supply rice to state procurement agencies. The CMO added that paddy must be clean, dry, and have a 17 per cent moisture content.
