At least eight Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks across Gaza
An Israeli drone attack in al-Mawasi killed five police officers, while three others died in a separate strike in Gaza City.
The Israeli military killed at least eight Palestinians across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, including a four-year-old boy, hospital sources told Al Jazeera.
In al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis, an Israeli drone strike killed five Palestinian police officers and wounded several people. The Palestinian Ministry of Interior and National Security said the officers were targeted while performing routine duties.
The Israeli army claimed the attack in southern Gaza was aimed at a terrorist. The ministry stated that at least 75 police and security personnel have been killed by Israel since the ceasefire with Hamas began last October.
In northern Gaza, sources at al-Shifa Hospital reported that a drone attack in Gaza City’s Rimal neighbourhood killed at least three Palestinians, including a four-year-old boy. The Taj Mall was also targeted in the area.
Hamas condemned the strikes as a deliberate war crime, alleging that targeting police officers is an attempt to obstruct recovery and undermine stability. Hamas also described the bombardment of Gaza City as targeting civilians.
The Gaza Ministry of Health reported that at least 74,594 Palestinians have been killed since Israel launched its war in October 2023.
