Bhopal police to launch online system for hotel guest verification
The digital portal will allow police to verify identity documents and access check-in records in real time.
Bhopal police are developing an online system to verify hotel guests and identify the use of fake identity documents. The project will initially launch as a pilot at hotels in MP Nagar before being expanded across the city.
Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar said the system is in the final stages of development. A private software company is assisting with the creation of the application.
Under the proposed plan, hotels must upload guest identity proofs to a digital portal during check-in. This will provide the relevant police stations with immediate access to guest arrival and departure data.
The portal is intended to help officers detect suspicious records and individuals using fraudulent IDs. Currently, hotels collect documents without a digital verification mechanism, and police often face delays when requesting guest records.
Once operational, the system will allow officers to view records online instead of making repeated visits to hotels to inspect physical registers. This is expected to save time during investigations and improve coordination between hotels and the police.
