BJP in hurry to finish off JD(U), says RJD's Manoj Jha
The Rashtriya Janata Dal MP alleged the BJP is attempting to undermine its NDA ally after two Independent MLCs joined the party.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha on Sunday criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after two Independent Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs) joined the party. According to ANI, the MLCs, Rahul Kumar and Banshidhar Brajwasi, joined the BJP one day after the Bihar Legislative Council election results were announced.
Jha alleged that the BJP is attempting to eliminate its National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partner, the Janata Dal (United). He stated that voters from various communities sent a message through the election results, noting that the BJP won only two seats.
The RJD MP said his party will ask the Election Commission and the Chairman of the Bihar Legislative Council to disqualify the two MLCs. Jha claimed that rules allow for the disqualification of an Independent member who joins a political party.
The election results for the eight Bihar Legislative Council seats were announced on October 29. These included four graduates' and four teachers' constituencies.
In the elections, the RJD and BJP each secured two seats. The remaining four seats were won by the Janata Dal (United), Jan Suraaj Party, and Independent candidates.
RJD's Dr Sanjeev Kumar won the Patna Teachers' constituency by defeating BJP MLC Nawal Kishore Yadav, while RJD's Anil Jha won the Darbhanga Graduates' constituency.
