INDIA bloc holds mega rally in Delhi demanding CEC resignation
Rahul Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of stealing votes during the protest at Ramlila Maidan.
Opposition leaders of the INDIA bloc held a large rally at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on Sunday, November 1, 2026. The protest demanded the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged electoral irregularities.
Addressing the gathering, Rahul Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of stealing votes and stated that legal action would be taken. He said the Opposition would continue fighting for justice and accountability.
The bloc had unanimously adopted a motion on Saturday, October 31, to conduct a symbolic public impeachment of the CEC. They levelled six charges, including conspiring with the BJP and deleting 13.2 crore voters through the special intensive revision of voter lists.
Senior leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, and Mamata Banerjee participated in a march from Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence to the venue. Akhilesh Yadav described the location as the Haldighati of democracy and alleged manipulation of electoral rolls.
The rally faced criticism from various figures. Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora questioned the internal democracy of the bloc, while BJP MP Sambit Patra claimed nearly 40 per cent of the venue was vacant.
Chamber of Trade and Industry chairman Brijesh Goyal stated that businesses estimated losses of over Rs 10,000 crore due to the rally.
