Commercial LPG cylinder price rises by Rs 10 as aviation fuel costs increase

State-owned oil companies have increased the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders and aviation turbine fuel effective from November 1.

State-owned oil marketing companies have increased the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 10, according to reports from The Indian Express, Deccan Chronicle and The Pioneer. In Delhi, the rate for a commercial cylinder now stands at Rs 2,820. This follows previous increases of Rs 9.50 on September 1 and Rs 62.50 on October 1.

The revision for commercial cooking gas comes after price reductions of Rs 183.50 in July and Rs 192 in August. Between February and June, the price of a 19-kg commercial cylinder had risen by Rs 1,373, moving from Rs 1,740.50 to Rs 3,113.50 before the subsequent cuts.

Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices have also risen by Rs 1.37 per litre, bringing the new rate to Rs 138.50 per litre. This marks the fourth consecutive monthly increase for jet fuel, following rises in August, September and October. ATF can account for up to 40 per cent of airline operating costs.

Domestic LPG prices remain unchanged, with the 14.2-kg cylinder priced at Rs 942. For Free Trade LPG, a new 5-kg connection costs Rs 1,903, while a refill is priced at Rs 782. Petrol and diesel rates also remain unchanged.

LPG and ATF prices are adjusted on the first day of every month. These changes reflect fluctuations in international benchmarks and the exchange rate between the rupee and the dollar. Prices can vary by state due to local taxes such as value-added tax.
