Gold prices hit one-year low in October as precious metals tumble

Silver recorded the worst monthly decline of 19.17 per cent during October, according to data from Trading Economics.

International gold prices fell to a one-year low in October, marking the metal's worst monthly performance in years, according to a report by Mint.

Trading Economics data shows that international gold prices fell below $3,900 per ounce on Friday, October 30, amid rising energy prices and inflation concerns.

Silver prices also saw sharp declines, plunging below $50 an ounce for the first time since November 2025. Silver recorded the worst monthly decline of 19.17 per cent.

Platinum prices dipped below $1,500 per ounce on Friday, reaching its lowest level since September 2025. Platinum saw a monthly decline of 16.65 per cent.

The gold-silver ratio has climbed to its highest level since December. Bloomberg quoted Ole Hansen of Saxo Bank, who said the divergence underscores silver's vulnerability relative to gold.

On a yearly basis, platinum remained the biggest loser with an 8 per cent decline.
