The India Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rainfall in several Telangana districts as the cyclone nears the Andhra Pradesh coast.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for six districts in Telangana for November 2 as Cyclonic Storm Murasu approaches. According to reports from Mint and The Hindu, the storm is expected to cross the South Andhra Pradesh coast between Nellore and Narsapur around midnight on November 2 or the morning of November 3.

An orange alert warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall has been sounded for isolated places in Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool and Wanaparthy districts. A yellow alert, indicating heavy rainfall, has been issued for Jangaon, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts.

The IMD stated that the cyclone is likely to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by Monday morning. It may move towards the west-central Bay of Bengal and bring rain to Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.

In Hyderabad, the weather bulletin predicted a partly cloudy sky for the next 24 hours. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers with lightning and gusty winds are likely in parts of the city, with temperatures expected to range between 24C and 34C.

The storm follows Cyclone Arnab, which made landfall near Andhra Pradesh and Odisha on October 28. In Odisha, Director of the Meteorological Centre Manorama Mohanty said the state will receive rainfall from November 2, with intensity expected to increase on November 3 and 4.
