Dog rescued after being stranded for 20 days in Nepal
Two kayakers braved rain and strong currents to save a dog named Seti from a narrow strip of land in Gorkha.
A dog named Seti was rescued on Friday evening from a narrow strip of land between a cliff and the Budhi Gandaki river in Nepal's Gorkha district, according to The Times of India.
The animal had been trapped for 20 days at Jagat Bagar after being swept away during a flash flood on October 11.
Local residents and Dayaram Karki had been throwing biscuits across the water to feed the dog, which was spotted by residents last Wednesday.
A helicopter rescue was considered by Chumanubri rural municipality chairman Nima Lama, Dhawa Gyalzen Lama, and Birbal Ghale, but bad weather and flight permission issues prevented it.
Professional kayakers Ram Silwal and Arun Thapaliya from Royal Beach Camp in Dhading crossed the swollen river to reach the dog despite persistent drizzle.
Chairman Nima Lama told the news portal Setopati that the rescuers ventured into the raging river to bring the animal to safety.
