J&K has emerged as a model of peace and development, says Manoj Sinha
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha stated that the abrogation of Article 370 provided citizens with rights and security previously denied to them.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Saturday that the region has become a model of good governance and development. Speaking at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre in Srinagar during the Union Territory Foundation Day, Sinha said the removal of Article 370 allowed residents to live without fear and access rights that had been withheld for many years, according to The Hindu.
Sinha stated that a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism has led to the elimination of more than 780 terrorists since 2020. He claimed that local recruitment for militants has ended and stone-pelting has been erased. The Lieutenant Governor added that the security situation has undergone a transformation.
The Lieutenant Governor also noted that authorities have taken action against narco-terrorism by arresting thousands of drug smugglers and peddlers this year. He said that illicit assets have been attached and mansions funded by drugs were demolished.
Sinha mentioned that per capita income in the region has risen from approximately Rs 75,000 seven years ago to over Rs 2 lakh. He also noted that the 2024 Assembly elections were conducted peacefully without violence or booth capturing.
The function was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, and J&K Waqf Board chairperson Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi. No leaders from regional parties, including the National Conference, attended the event.
