Karnataka BJP to protest milk and curd price increases

State BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra accused the Congress government of burdening citizens with rising costs.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will hold statewide demonstrations in Karnataka to oppose the rising costs of curd and milk, according to The Hawk.

Speaking in Davanagere on Saturday, State BJP President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra claimed the Congress-led government is placing a burden on ordinary people through consecutive price hikes.

Vijayendra stated that milk prices rose by Rs 8 per litre and noted that curd prices have also increased.

He alleged that the state government presented these hikes as gifts for Deepavali and Kannada Rajyotsava.

The BJP leader said that while price increases might benefit farmers, the government should have used subsidies to cover the costs instead of passing them to consumers.

Vijayendra further alleged that the Congress government has raised prices for liquor, petrol, milk, and stamp duty since taking power.

He also claimed that approximately Rs 1,700 crore in subsidies for milk producers remains unpaid and warned of intensified agitation if the hikes are not withdrawn.
