Karnataka to mandate state flag hoisting at private firms
Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said the government will likely issue an order this month requiring private companies to fly the state flag.
Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced on Sunday that Karnataka will require private companies to hoist the state's bi-colour flag at their premises.
The announcement was made in Bengaluru after the Chief Minister launched Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations.
The move follows complaints regarding the hiring of Kannadigas in IT and BT firms.
The state government is expected to release an official order regarding this requirement later this month, according to Shivakumar.
Separately, the Kannada Rakshana Vedike (KRV) has started a statewide drive to gather data on how many Kannadigas work in private technology and manufacturing companies.
KRV state president TA Narayana Gowda said the organisation wants companies to respect the employment rights of Kannadigas.
The KRV stated its teams will visit firms this month and warned of protests if companies refuse to provide employment details.
