Chaos at Mangaluru Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations due to long award list
Nearly 200 individuals and organisations were recognised during the district-level event held at Nehru Maidan on Sunday.
Chaos occurred during the district-level Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations at Nehru Maidan in Mangaluru on Sunday as nearly 200 awardees were recognised, according to The Hindu.
The final list, which was shared with media on Sunday morning, included 119 individuals and 54 organisations. The names on the list reportedly continued to increase until midnight on Saturday.
The district administration faced difficulties providing enough seating because awardees arrived with friends and family. Some recipients, including senior citizens, had to wait in the sun, while others required medical attention in ambulances before being called to the stage.
Mr. Khader, MP Brijesh Chowta, and MLA D. Vedavyas Kamath presented the awards.
Large crowds also gathered near the stage to take photographs, with some people climbing onto the stage to pose with dignitaries.
Earlier in the programme, Mr. Khader performed the flag hoisting and received the guard of honour. Thirteen teams, including police units, took part in a march past, where the SDM School Guides and the St.
Theresa School RSP Boys were the top two squads.
The lengthy award distribution caused significant delays. By the time cultural performances by schools and colleges started around noon, few spectators were still present.
