Maharashtra to see above-normal daytime temperatures in November
The India Meteorological Department expects mixed temperature patterns and potentially low rainfall across the state.
Maharashtra is expected to experience above-normal daytime temperatures across most of the state during November, according to a report by Urban Acres citing the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
While maximum temperatures are likely to rise, minimum temperatures may vary by region. Parts of Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada could see normal to below-normal minimum temperatures, while other areas may experience warmer nights.
IMD Pune scientist SD Sanap suggested that El Nino could be a reason for the expected warmth. IMD director-general Dr Mrutyunjay Mohapatra stated that the phenomenon is likely to peak in November before weakening, though its influence may continue until March next year.
The rainfall outlook indicates that some areas might receive normal to above-normal rainfall. However, Dr Mohapatra cautioned that the actual amount of rain may not be significant because November is typically a dry month.
Dr Mohapatra noted that rainfall levels in these regions change significantly from year to year. He described the current forecast as an outlook rather than a precise prediction.
The forecast follows an October where central India, including Maharashtra, recorded its fourth-highest average maximum temperature and third-highest mean temperature.
