Jharkhand High Court Advocates Association warns lawyers against making social media reels
The association has issued guidelines prohibiting the posting of staged courtroom arguments and the use of social media for self-promotion.
The Jharkhand High Court Advocates’ Association has cautioned legal professionals against engaging in practices that could negatively impact the dignity of the profession, according to The Hawk.
The association issued strict guidelines prohibiting the creation of reels and the posting of staged courtroom arguments on social media for the purpose of attracting clients.
The move follows several complaints received by the Bar Association regarding younger lawyers filming videos with music at the High Court premises.
The association also noted reports of lawyers appearing to engage in courtroom arguments or publicly sharing their fee structures to entice potential clients.
In a statement, the association said the legal profession is a sacred vocation rather than a commercial venture or a platform for entertainment.
Members have been directed to delete all such promotional content immediately or face recommendations for disciplinary action through the Jharkhand State Bar Council.
