Madhya Pradesh CM plants Sankalp Tree in Bhopal for Army Day 2027

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav used soil from all 55 districts to plant a sapling marking the state's 71st Foundation Day.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav planted an Arjun sapling, named the ‘Sankalp Tree’, at Shaurya Smarak in Bhopal on Sunday, November 1. According to the Hindustan Times, the plantation marks the state's 71st Foundation Day and begins activities for the upcoming Army Day 2027 celebrations.

The sapling was planted using soil gathered from various towns, cities, and villages across all 55 districts of the state. This collection was conducted under the ‘Meri Maati’ campaign, an initiative organised by the Indian Army and the National Cadet Corps (NCC).

Yadav visited a military exhibition at the memorial that displayed the Indian Army's technological innovations and operational capabilities. The exhibition included a preview of the Army Day parade, Ran Hunkar, and an integrated battle demonstration scheduled for January 15, 2027.

The Chief Minister stated that Bhopal would host military events between November 1 and January 15, 2027, to showcase the courage of the armed forces. He noted that 2026 is being observed as ‘Kisan Kalyan Varsh’ or Farmer Welfare Year, while 2027 will be marked as ‘Yuva Varsh’ or Year of Youth.

Yadav also mentioned the Agniveer scheme and the role of the NCC in instilling discipline and patriotism in young people. He added that ministers have been assigned to participate in district-level Foundation Day programmes.
