Nifty 50 historical data suggests positive trends for November
Historical trends show the Nifty 50 has ended November in positive territory in 15 of the past 25 years, according to Mint.
Indian equities are entering November following a period of weakness characterised by foreign investor outflows, rupee depreciation and global uncertainty, according to a report by Mint.
Data from 2001 to 2025 shows that November and December have been strong months for the Nifty 50, with average returns of 2.5 per cent and 2.6 per cent respectively.
Jahol Prajapati, Equity Research Analyst at SAMCO Securities, said November and December could provide a seasonal boost after months of persistent weakness.
Prajapati noted that Diwali falling on 8 November this year could support consumption sentiment and market liquidity, though he cautioned that recovery depends on corporate earnings and foreign investor participation.
Sudeep Shah, Head of Technical and Derivatives Research at SBI Securities, said the Nifty 50 has closed November in positive territory in 10 of the past 20 years, with an average gain of 4.94 per cent.
Shah added that the Bank Nifty has ended November higher in 14 of the past 20 years, while the Nifty Midcap index has posted positive returns in 15 of the past 20 Novembers.
