Gujarat winter delayed as El Niño keeps temperatures high
The India Meteorological Department forecasts above-normal daytime and nighttime temperatures across much of the state through November and December.
Gujarat is expected to experience a delayed winter, with temperatures remaining warmer than usual through November and December, according to a report by Urban Acres.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast above-normal daytime and nighttime temperatures across most of the state. The agency linked this pattern to strong El Niño conditions in the equatorial Pacific Ocean.
In Ahmedabad, recent data showed a maximum temperature of 32.6°C, which was 2.3°C lower than the normal level. However, the minimum temperature of 22.7°C was nearly 4°C higher than expected for this period.
Temperature variations have been noted across the state. Rajkot recorded the highest temperature in Gujarat at 37.9°C on Saturday, while Naliya in Kutch saw the lowest nighttime temperature at 18.6°C.
The IMD expects daytime temperatures to increase again after a brief plateau over the weekend. Except for certain areas in Kutch, daytime temperatures are predicted to stay significantly above normal.
Nights are also expected to remain warmer, particularly in Saurashtra and Kutch. This may reduce the typical drop in temperature after sunset and limit overnight relief from daytime heat.
