Woman in critical condition after postpartum haemorrhage in Rajasthan

A 28-year-old woman is on ventilator support at Kota's New Medical College Hospital following severe bleeding after a normal delivery.

A 28-year-old woman from Baran district is in critical condition at New Medical College Hospital (NMCH) in Kota after developing severe postpartum haemorrhage, according to a report by the Times of India via Urban Acres.

The woman, identified as Pushpa, underwent a normal delivery on Tuesday at SRG Hospital in Jhalawar. She developed excessive bleeding shortly after childbirth, according to medical officials.

Doctors at the Jhalawar hospital administered five to six units of blood and platelets to control the haemorrhage, but her condition did not stabilise. Baran Medical College principal Sanjay Porwal said her condition deteriorated suddenly, most probably because of the haemorrhage.

Due to the uncontrolled bleeding, she was referred to NMCH in Kota on the same day. At the Kota hospital, she developed shock, severe breathing difficulties, and symptoms of acute kidney injury following massive blood loss and prolonged low blood pressure.

A nephrology team carried out emergency dialysis to manage kidney complications, and the woman was placed on ventilator support in the intensive care unit. NMCH principal Nilesh Jain did not provide an update on her condition.

The woman remains critical under intensive medical supervision. Officials Ashutosh Sharma and Vikas Khandelia did not respond to calls for comment, according to the Times of India.
