Three arrested for pro-Khalistan graffiti at Delhi Metro stations
The graffiti targeted singer Diljit Dosanjh and allegedly expressed support for the banned organisation Sikhs For Justice.
Delhi Police arrested three people, including a woman, for allegedly writing pro-Khalistan slogans at Jahangirpuri and Shastri Nagar metro stations, according to reports by The Times of India and ANI.
The graffiti, which targeted singer Diljit Dosanjh, was discovered at Jahangirpuri on October 29 and at Shastri Nagar on October 30.
The messages allegedly expressed support for the banned separatist organisation Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) and Khalistan ideology.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Sumeet, alias Raftar, 30, from Panipat, Haryana, and Sumit Kumar, alias Kaka, 22, and Gurpreet, 22, both from Punjab.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Narra Chaitanya said the investigation revealed Sumit Kumar was the main instigator.
Police alleged that Sumit Kumar was in contact with SFJ sympathisers and was offered financial rewards for defacing public property at prominent locations.
Sumeet allegedly painted slogans at Jahangirpuri and recorded a video for handlers, while Sumit Kumar and Gurpreet allegedly defaced a staircase at Shastri Nagar.
Two FIRs have been registered under the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Public Property Act, 2007, and the Metro Railway (Operation and Maintenance) Act, 2002.
