Nishu Kumar goal secures Sreenidi Deccan win against Rajasthan United
Sreenidi Deccan FC defeated Rajasthan United 1-0 in their Indian Football League season opener in Jaipur on Sunday.
Sreenidi Deccan FC secured a 1-0 victory against Rajasthan United in the Indian Football League (IFL) 2026-27 season opener at Vidhyadhar Nagar Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday, according to Sportstar.
Nishu Kumar scored the winning goal for the Deccan Warriors in the 66th minute to earn the team three points.
Rajasthan United started with high energy, using wingers Thomyo Shimray and Brijesh Giri to test the Sreenidi Deccan defence, which was led by Pritam Kotal and Hadi Idrissou.
Sreenidi Deccan's David Castañeda hit the crossbar just before the drinks break after receiving a cross from Jerry Mawihmingthanga, but the first half ended goalless.
In the second half, P. Christopher Kamei hit the crossbar for Rajasthan United, while Foday Trawally and Ricky Vanlalhriatsanga also missed chances to score.
The decisive goal came after Lalromawia played to Adriano Castanheira, who laid the ball to Castañeda before threading a pass to Nishu to finish into the far corner.
Sreenidi head coach Antonio Rueda introduced substitutes to protect the lead, while Rajasthan United's Giuseppe Cristaldi made changes to find an equaliser.
Goalkeeper Amrit Gope made two saves to deny Castañeda and Brandon Vanlalremdika as the match ended 1-0.
