Rajasthan IPS officer placed on APO amid villa purchase probe
The government removed Prashakha Mathur from her post following an investigation into property acquisitions by her and her husband.
The Rajasthan government on Saturday placed senior IPS officer Prashakha Mathur on Awaiting Posting Orders (APO). According to the Free Press Journal, Mathur was serving as the Additional Director General of Police for Planning, Modernization, and Welfare before being relieved of her duties.
The move follows an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) investigation into her husband, 1993-batch IAS officer Shikhar Agrawal. The state government has authorised a detailed probe under Section 17-A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018, regarding allegations that Agrawal misused his official position to benefit Goyal Fashions Private Limited.
The ACB is investigating claims that Agrawal and his family acquired approximately 40 villas from the company, which operates the Ananta brand. Preliminary findings suggest Agrawal and Mathur bought 10 villas each at the Bujhda resort in Udaipur for Rs 15 lakh per unit in March 2026.
At the Ananta resort in Alwar, the couple allegedly acquired eight villas for Rs 16.5 lakh each. The bureau also noted that four villas were reportedly bought for their two sons at roughly Rs 15 lakh each, while four others were registered to Agrawal's in-laws for about Rs 16.5 lakh each.
ACB Director General Govind Gupta stated that the preliminary enquiry was initiated based on confidential information and media reports. The agency is examining whether Agrawal acted in collusion with company directors to secure construction relaxations and a special financial package for the firm.
