Ramayana ticket prices vary across formats and cities

Premium pricing for the Nitesh Tiwari film reflects different screening formats and high audience demand, according to theatre executives.

Advance bookings for the film Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, opened on Dussehra. The film has seen significant interest in metro cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Chennai.

In Mumbai and Delhi, 2D ticket prices range from a minimum of Rs 260 or Rs 280 up to Rs 1800. IMAX 3D screenings at select premium multiplexes can cost Rs 25000 or more, while 3D shows for a luxurious experience are priced as high as Rs 2070.

Ashish Misra, Head of Commercialisation at Cinepolis India, said the film is releasing in multiple formats including 2D, 3D, 4DX, and large-format screens. He noted that high prices often apply to 3D large-format screenings or recliner seats during peak evening slots.

Misra added that the film's scale and hype have resulted in more screenings being provided in premium formats. He stated that strong demand for these formats is also a factor in the pricing.

Deepak Adwani, Executive Director of Miraj Entertainment Ltd, said expensive tickets represent a small market segment. He noted that in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, the film is priced similarly to other major releases.

Adwani explained that premium pricing reflects the costs of technology licensing and operating higher-cost formats like recliner auditoriums. He said demand is concentrated, with festive windows causing spikes in pricing due to limited premium inventory.
