Ranbir Kapoor compares Elon Musk flying car to Pushpaka Vimana

The actor made the remark during a promotional interview for the upcoming Ramayana film.

Actor Ranbir Kapoor said that India had flying cars 5,000 years ago while discussing the film Ramayana. He made the comment during a Star Talks interview alongside director Nitesh Tiwari, Yash, Rakul Preet Singh, and Ravi Dubey.

The discussion followed a host's remarks regarding how ancient weapons could rival modern inventions. Kapoor noted that Elon Musk recently invented a flying car, but suggested India achieved this 5,000 years ago.

The film features the Pushpaka Vimana, a mythical flying palace described in the Ramayana. According to Hindu mythology, the celestial architect Vishwakarma created the Vimana for Lord Brahma, who gave it to Kubera.

In the epic, Ravana seized the structure from Kubera. The Pushpaka Vimana is described as a self-moving aerial chariot that can expand to fit any number of people and travels at the speed of thought.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the two-part adaptation features Kapoor as Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi as Sita. Yash plays Ravana, while Sunny Deol portrays Lord Hanuman and Ravi Dubey plays Lakshman.

The production is led by Namit Malhotra and Yash, with a musical score by AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer. The first part is scheduled for a theatrical release on November 5 for Diwali.
