MP government holds quizzes for students and farmers with prizes worth lakhs
Participants in the Madhya Pradesh government's quiz competitions will receive tractors, Royal Enfield motorcycles, e-scooters, and cash prizes.
The Madhya Pradesh government recently conducted quiz competitions for students and farmers to create awareness about government initiatives, according to the Hindustan Times. The programmes, including the Kisan Kalyan Swabhiman Parv, were launched by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav as part of the Farmers Welfare Year.
Shri Ram Tiwari, convener of the culture department’s Veer Bharat Nyas and Krishna Pathey, said 102 students from schools, colleges, and universities will receive ₹1 lakh each. The student quiz focused on the state's Krishna Pathey initiative and the cultural heritage of Lord Krishna.
In the competition for farmers, 165 participants from 55 districts won prizes including tractors, Royal Enfield motorcycles, and e-scooters. Tiwari said these prizes, worth ₹6.5 crore, were decided through a lottery system after 16,000 farmers qualified by answering 40 questions correctly in a March online quiz.
The farmers' quiz covered governance and welfare schemes, including MSP, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, procurement processes, and agricultural infrastructure projects. The winners will be felicitated during the state's Foundation Day celebrations on November 1.
Congress spokesperson KK Mishra criticised the initiative, stating the state government should focus on resolving issues such as fertiliser availability, timely compensation for crop losses, and fair prices for produce. Mishra noted that farmers staged protests this year regarding moong prices, fertiliser, and electricity for irrigation.
