Sharad Pawar urges Centre to take decision on CEC
The NCP (SP) chief called for prompt action regarding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar amid protests by the INDIA bloc.
NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar on Sunday urged the central government to make an immediate decision concerning Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, according to the Deccan Chronicle.
Speaking in Malegaon, Pawar said the Opposition was forced to protest because the Centre had not resolved issues regarding the Election Commission and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
The remarks follow a 'Chalo Delhi' rally at Ramlila Maidan, which included leaders such as Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and Akhilesh Yadav.
While Pawar did not attend the rally, he stated that Baramati MP Supriya Sule and local leaders represented his party in the agitation.
Pawar also began a three-day tour of drought-affected areas in Maharashtra, starting from Baramati and moving to the Madha and Pandharpur talukas in Solapur district.
The former Union minister noted that 139 villages in Solapur are receiving water from 135 tankers, with 110 tankers needed for the Madha constituency alone.
