Traffic restrictions and diversions are in place in central Delhi on Sunday for a rally at Ramlila Maidan.
The Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory regarding traffic restrictions and diversions in parts of central Delhi on Sunday, November 1. The measures are in view of a proposed INDIA bloc rally at Ramlila Maidan, where a large gathering is expected, according to The Hindu.
The restrictions are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Several diversion points have been identified, including Netaji Subhash Marg T-Point, Rajghat, Delhi Gate, ITO A-Point, Ajmeri Gate Red Light, Ranjeet Singh Flyover at Barakhamba Road, and Jhandewalan Roundabout.
Traffic movement is likely to be affected on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg from ITO to Delhi Gate, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, and Aruna Asaf Ali Road. Other affected areas include Minto Road, DGB Road, and Barakhamba Road towards Mandi House Roundabout.
The movement of Delhi Transport Corporation buses will be regulated on BSZ Marg, the stretch from Rajghat to JLN Marg, DGB Road, and Minto Road, depending on traffic conditions. ThePrint reported that several stretches, including ITO, witnessed traffic jams on Sunday evening due to road closures.
For those travelling to New Delhi Railway Station, the police suggested alternative routes. Passengers from the DGB Road side may use Chelmsford Road and Connaught Place, while those from East Delhi can use ITO and DDU Marg to reach the Ajmeri Gate side.
Commuters have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel towards Astha Kunj Park and Nehru Place. Motorists are encouraged to use public transport, such as the Metro, and follow instructions from traffic personnel.
