Warren Buffett claims he has not drunk water in 48 years

Hedge fund manager Bill Ackman recalled the billionaire investor's preference for Cherry Coke during a dinner visit.

Hedge fund manager Bill Ackman recently shared a story on the Equity Mates Investing podcast regarding billionaire investor Warren Buffett. Ackman recalled a dinner at his home where Buffett declined offers of still or sparkling water.

During the meal, Buffett reportedly told Ackman that he had not consumed water in 48 years. It remains unclear if the 96-year-old investor was being serious or joking.

Buffett is known for his daily consumption of five cans of Coca-Cola. In 2015, he stated that the drink accounted for 25 per cent of his daily caloric intake, describing himself as being "one-quarter Coca-Cola."

The investor previously preferred Pepsi for 48 years before choosing Cherry Coke at the 1986 Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting. He later named Cherry Coke the official drink for future shareholder events.

Coca-Cola has been a significant investment for Berkshire Hathaway. The company built a US$1.3 billion position in the brand between 1988 and 1989 and has maintained a stake of approximately 9 per cent since then.
